Hello all!

Last night I was at a grad party for a WPI student. She and her boyfriend attended. I quickly learned that there's still wedge rats, which warmed my heart in a very geeky way. But that the wedge had somewhat been shifted to some quad thing? I didn't find out, but was wondering if current students were aware of UDF.

So, this morning, here I am. 'Trying to see if UDF 1-4 was lost to the ages. Thankfully I found this site. I may just have to give them a re-read.

Let me transport back in time... I remember sitting in my friend's room many a year ago. His friend was a rat at the time. We were on some computer that was about the size of a 70qt cooler dialing up to compu$erve at 300 baud (on a good day).

We'd Telnet into WPI and download UDF to print out on the lovely dot matrix printer from hell. A process that seemed to take at least a day. I remember waiting for the new issues to come out. I wrote a few e-mails to MegaZone and perhaps Gryphon. At 7 cents a page, I didn't tend to write as much back then. But if you guys are around, how have ya been?

While there's been a UDF void in my life since those years, it's never left my being. I still find myself quoting some of it (and having people stare back at me in utter confusion). So, thanks for a great piece of work- I'd have to say that it did influence my life.

take care,
Bryan 'Pyro' Peretto

Hello to you, Pyro!

Darn straight give the core stories a re read... and if you look on the main uf page you'll see that G and crew have written a whole lot more, consistently getting better with practice!

I think I know what you mean about wedge vs Quad, as there apparently is a new Student Services center over in the middle of the 'working' side of the WPI campus, which you can get shots of via the offical website. However, by looking around the actual "real" wedge is still there, and still quite in use due to its strategic location between Morgan and Daniels.
